So, the UK’s worst-kept secret is finally out in the open. Phew. No more hushed conversations in dark car parks with desparate journalists from the Washington Post.
Good news is, this should be good news for customers. NTL and Telewest (a.k.a Blueyonder, when it comes to broadband) don’t actually compete with each other in terms of broadband internet, because they offer their services in different region. The bigger, better combined entity will be able to offer a national service, and so should be able to provide stiff competition for the big DSL providers, notably BT.
If you are *really* interested, you can read the NTL info and the Telewest press release.
NTL currently offers 1Mbps broadband internet from just £9.99/month, while Telewest’s Blueyonder broadband internet offering starts at £14.99/month for a 512K service.
