BT back on top?

BT is expected to announce this week that it has overtaken Virgin Media to regain its crown as the largest supplier of broadband in Britain.

BT’s position as the nation’s top broadband retailer was lost in March 2006 when NTL and Telewest merged and re-branded as Virgin Media. In the fourth quarter of last year Virgin Media controlled 26% of all broadband internet connections, compared with 24% for BT. Carphone Warehouse, Tiscali and Orange were in third, fourth and fifth places respectively.

But figures due out this week are rumoured to suggest that BT will be back on top with 3.6million broadband customers to Virgin’s 3.4million.

So, how do the two giants compare? Your views please.
