In a bid to get fibre optic technology rolled out in the UK (in some areas at least) H2O networks has been implementing Focus (Fibre Optic Cable Underground Sewer) - and it seems to be working so far.
Various Universities and Council offices around the UK have been enjoying up to 20GB broadband speeds, which is pretty nippy.
Hopefully it won’t be too long before cable broadband is enabled across the country. Although this is likely to be a costly procedure, the long term benefits to the UK broadband infrastructure could be huge.
