Can I convert my German iPaq to English?

I recently bought an iPaq 3660 from eBay and was very pleased with the price I ended up paying. Unfortunately, I found that I had not read the auction correctly and discovered that a German version of Pocket PC 2000 was installed. Being British, this is not much use to me and I wanted to know how to change the language.

Unfortunately, there is no built in way to change the language of mobile versions of Windows. Every device that has the operating system installed is configured for the country in which it is sold and no additional languages are included.

However, you can download a ROM update from HP, which, once installed, will change the language to English. Simply click the link labelled ‘iPAQ H3600 Series Pocket PC ROM Update’ followed by the Download button, save the file to your Desktop and run the executable to decompress the archive.

With your iPaq connected to your computer run the file named UpgradeUt.exe and you will be guided through the installation process.
