I have exactly the same problem as Mark Wison. Can this be identified as cheating by Windows Vista to its customers?
I can't sync Windows Mobile with Windows Vista
Since upgrading my computer to Windows Vista (from XP Pro), I've been having countless problems synchronising my PDA with it. Everything was working perfectly in XP with ActiveSync, but it can't be installed under Vista. When I plug in my handheld, it starts to synchronise, but always fails. Is this a known problem with Vista?

A large number of people have experienced problems with the initial release of Windows Mobile Device Center - the successor to ActiveSync. It's worth ensuring that you have the latest version of the software installed, though even this doesn't completely guarantee success.
At time of writing this is version 6.1, which you can't get via Windows Update, but you can manually download it. Make sure you download not only the correct language edition of the program, but also the right edition according to whether you're using the 32- or 64-bit version of Windows.

I've had SO many problems with my syncing PDA and internet sharing with Vista. Every works fine with XP, but as soon as I plug it in to my Vista laptop nothing will work consistently.I am at my wits end with all this crap, it's just ridiculous!Think it might be time to say goodbye to Microsoft in the future.

Have you down loaded Sync Centre on to your Vista system, active sync does not work with Vista

I have the same problem as other users here. I have synced pocket PCs, their predecessors and now Windows Mobile devices for years and years.I don't use Outlook as my mail client - WMDC does not seem to "like this". I also moved all my Outlook details across using a transfer cable from my XP Pro machine to Vista Ultimate 64 machine before attempting to sync. As almost all the data is now in sync, I would have thought the sync process would be quick. I am now on third day of trying and am just leaving the phone connected for hours and hours.I have downloaded the WMDC 6.1 from M$ but I notice in Vista it is not easy to find the version of a program one is using. I will have to learn more.M$ products are often excellent, but when they are new, they are often frustrating. We all seem to know this, but we keep on buying the next upgrade. Why do we fall for it again and again?
