Training people to use Windows Mobile
by on Wednesday 05 September 2007 Comment |
A recent decision was made to equip all of our sales staff with Windows Mobile PDAs, and I'm in charge of training new users. I would like to give a presentation to a group of employees to show them how to accomplish various tasks with their PDAs. Can you suggest any software that could help?

There is a program which would be perfect for the situation you describe - Pocket Controller Pro 6, available for $35 (around £17). You can download a trial version to evaluate before you buy. Pocket Controller Pro works much like other remote display tools, displaying the screen of the connected device on your main computer's monitor. While this may not sound like anything out of the ordinary, however, Pocket Controller Pro has a few tricks up its sleeve.
Firstly, it is possible to download skins so that the program looks exactly like the device you are connected to. Secondly, there is the option to draw annotations on screen, which is likely to prove very useful when giving presentation and tutorials. The attached PDA can be controlled from the computer and any actions will be mirrored on the device, or you can use the PDA as normal and display actions on a larger screen.
The program also includes tools to copy files from computer to PDA and launch the mobile's Task Manager or Registry Editor as well as advanced synchronisation options, so you should find uses for it beyond your presentation.
