Earlier this week the GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) announced that the next incarnation of 3G technology (or ‘long term evolution’ as it’s been dubbed) has been given the go-ahead by 3GPP - the industry body behind 3G standards.
Mobile broadband is currently served via HSPA technology - but LTE is expected to surpass this when it is released, and give 3G another leg up over its rival WiMax.
For consumers this is good news - as it means imrovements in mobile broadband connectivity, and should make surfing from your laptop even easier, no matter where you are.
