Video review demo: Motorola Xoom tablet

One thing is clear with the gadget manufacturers right now - without exception, they're putting their collective weight behind tablet PCs and pads. And if the Xoom is anything to go by, we expect Motorola to be well fancied in the race.

There's a couple of reasons for this. It has been in bed with the Android OS from the beginning and has a good relationship with Google and its OS. This has clearly helped in getting its hands on the technology, because it looks like - crucially - the Motorola Xoom should be the first Android 3 tablet to hit the streets.

This new version of the Android operating system, named Honeycomb, is the first to be designed specifically with tablets in mind. Broadband Genie took a wander backstage at the huge Motorola stand at Mobile World Congress 2011 and sat down with Motorola's UK marketing director Paul Nicholson to get us a demo of its new tablet in action - check it out below.

The Motorola Xoom tablet should be hitting the US stores before the end of February, so we can hope for a UK release late in Q1 too (although I wouldn't bet on it). If you want to read a bit about the competition, check our blog post over at Tech Adventures.
