Smartphone review: The Lg Optimus One P500
A lot of the mobiles we've been looking at here recently have been in the same category as the LG Optimus One P500 - well featured smartphones at the lower end of the cost spectrum.
These handsets may not be hot off the production line, but it's interesting to look back at them a year on from release to see how they are holding up against the competition - and if they lived up to the hype.
When looking back at smartphones running on the popular Android 2 platform, there are some pretty tasty options on offer at some great prices. HTC, Samsung and Sony Ericsson all hit high notes - so how does LG's offering hold up?
In short, extremely well. While the processor isn't the quickest, or the screen the best on the market, LG recognised its limitations and built a smartphone that coped perfectly with what it had. The Optimus One can do everything you want a handset to do, while feeling good in the hand and packing a good chunk of battery life.
Whether it does all this as well as its direct competitors is another matter. As the prices of former hero handsets such as the HTC Desire and Samsung Galaxy S come down, as their newer flashy upgrades come along, is there still a place for the LG Optimus One?
