I think it's technically impossible to score 39. My lawyers will be in touch.
Genie presents PC Advisor Best Broadband ISP Award to O2 Broadband
While some might get the impression we spend all day criticising broadband companies for bending the truth on speed, or offering less than perfect customer service and tech support, don't let it be said we don't give credit where credit is due.
The inaugural PC Advisor Awards were unconventially held in the Bloomsbury Lanes bowling alley in February, allowing Genie's Ciaron and Gillian to demonstrate their ten-pin prowess (well, 212 and 172 respectively certainly could've been worse, taking free booze into consideration). PC Advisor publisher Simon Jary could only manage an unenviable 39, and that was with the bumpers in play.
PC Advisor editorial duo Paul Trotter and Matt Egan presented the awards with some gusto (presumably Ant and Dec couldn't make it) and remarkably managed to hold on to the audience's attention throughout the three or four hundred award presentations.
Of course the most important trophy was the award for Best Broadband ISP, won by O2 Broadband. It was sponsored by Broadband Genie and voted for by 6,500 PC Advisor readers. The award was announced earlier in the year, but the ceremony saw the actual trophy handed over. Pictured above is Genie MD Ciaron Dunne (left) presenting the award to O2's head of home and broadband marketing, Vishal Khakar.
While it was a readers award, we're pretty happy that they've chosen wisely. O2 Broadband, along with stable mate BE Broadband, were front runners in the UK's drive to 20Mb broadband, while also offering great deals to its existing mobile customers and gaining plenty of plaudits for its customer service record. A good job well done - congratulations!
