Sky Broadband pips the 1m broadband post
Monday 29 October 2007
Sky broadband revealed today that it has managed to recruit over one million customers to its broadband internet service, and now claims to be the UK's fastest growing broadband provider.
BSkyB offers its products bundled with the other services available from the media giant, such as satelliteTV. This sudden growth in customers (Sky claims to have recruited all one million in a mere 14 months) could be a reflection of the public move towards bundled products, and the convenience of one bill for all home communications services. The growth could also be related to Sky's rather hefty marketing budget.
James Murdoch, Chief Executive for Sky said:
"Sky entered the broadband marketplace because we saw an opportunity to challenge the established players and give customers something better."
Customers can now save money by opting to receive all their services from one provider. Sky is not the only provider to offer bundle deals: Virgin Media, BT, and Talk Talk all offer discounts if consumers choose to go for more than one service.
