Mobile phone company O2 launched its home broadband service earlier this month, and has reportedly stated that it aims to recruit one million customers by 2010.
Matthew Key, Chief Executive for O2, originally delayed the launch of the companies broadband offering, and stated that he had no plans to mimic some of O2s rivals by offering up “free” broadband. However, the service is up and running now, and with Sky broadband announcing its one millionth signing this week the marketplace looks to be growing just as rapidly as O2 hopes.
O2 broadband hope to net UK consumers by giving them a basic and easy to understand service, with 24-hour support and quick connection speeds - though the company will no doubt be starting their bid for a million subscribers with their current mobile phone customers, who stand to receive a discount on the new broadband service.
