TalkTalk struggling to serve 0208 areas
Monday 26 November 2007
TalkTalk Broadband has admitted to service problems in parts of the country. The broadband service that is owned by The Carphone Warehouse and has bundle offers that combine both telephone and ADSL lines has reached 'capacity' in London's 0208 dial-code area, leaked a member of the complaints team.
According to one member of the complaints department, customer services are unaware of the scale of the problem. The
TalkTalk system has been struggling to cope with demand at peak times and at present, there have been around 2,000 complains over non-connectivity issues.
A spokesperson from
TalkTalk complaints department has confirmed that the service is waiting on Opal, the telecoms subsidiary of The Carphone Warehouse to assign extra bandwidth for the service. However, it is reported that Opal has missed several deadlines this month, but has promised a boost in bandwidth capacity this week.
The Carphone Warehouse's press office would not confirm how many customers in the 0208 area had been affective. However, chief executive Charles Dunstone acknowledged in an email to The Independent: "In the 0208 areas of London, all exchanges are affected by intermittent bandwidth problems."
