Orange present new broadband device

Orange has announced it will be launching a mobile broadband service for 2008. The new Flybox SIM-based router will be targeted to consumers who are unable to connect to an ADSL line. Using the Flybox users will be able to connect to the Orange exchange provided they are within a 3 kilometre range.

Utilising similar technology to Orange’s Livebox, the Flybox offers Wi-Fi connection, four LAN sockets and a function to run a regular phone through the mobile SIM card. Speeds are expected to reach a maximum of 1Mbps.

The Flybox will launch in Spain this coming January, with the UK release scheduled for later in 2008.
