Virgin Media strategy boss quits

Virgin Media’s managing director of strategy, Ernie Cormier has quit as the firm bids to make its broadband ventures its core project. The company’s customer care chief Steve Stewart also departed at a similar time.

Acting CEO Neil Berkett had previously commented that he expected significant changes over the coming months. Virgin Media announced last week that it intended to offer 50Mbit/s downloads across the cable network by the end of 2008.

The Times has also speculated that Virgin Media’s chief financial officer, Jacques Kerrest will be the next to jump ship. However, Virgin Media have commented that they are continuing their contract talks with Kerrest.
