BSkyB has released strong Q3 figures and revealed that it met forecasts with 56,000 total net new customers. The company is now optimistic that it will meet full year predictions despite the fact that that business is more competitive than ever. They are also on target for 10 million customers by 2010.

BSkyB first launched its broadband service in 2006 and in the last quarter confirmed that it had added 229,000 net new broadband customers taking the total up to 1.43 million. The company has recently been the topic of conversation in relation to the forthcoming buy-out of Tiscali. BskyB's Chief Executive Jeremy Darroch confirmed that the operator is looking into buying Tiscali but it was more focused on expanding Sky's own offerings. "In the third quarter, despite a difficult consumer environment, customer growth increased by 10 per cent on last year and third-quarter churn was at a four-year low," said Darroch. "The success of our strategy is reflected in our financial performance. Revenue growth of 10 per cent on last year and third-quarter churn was at a four-year low." Source: Reuters
