In an effort to simplify mobile broadband data charging Vodafone has announced that it will begin bundling unlimited internet access into their existing monthly tariffs.
Vodafone customers will be able to access the web without risk off going out of their bundle allowance at no extra cost. Previously, Vodafone’s contract customers were forced to pay an extra £7.50 for Internet access on their mobile phones, but this will now be part of the existing price plan, albeit with a fair usage policy of 500 megabytes per month. A Vodafone spokesperson was keen to point out that browsing 50 web pages would use up around one megabyte of the new allowance. They also said that streaming a 90 second video clip from YouTube would use up around 4.5 megabytes.
The most popular websites currently on Vodafone’s mobile internet service are Facebook, Google, BBC, MSN and Bebo.
“Favourites for customers include quick access to Facebook, MySpace or Bebo to share pictures and news, YouTube to check out videos on the move, and fast connections to eBay to make that last minute bid,” said Vodafone.
