Results from a research project conducted by anti-spam software company, ClearMyMail has been published, revealing a list of the Top 10 spam targeted UK ISPs. The idea behind the research was to reveal which ISPs left their customers in the most danger of spam-based computer problems.
The results were as follows:
1. Orange = 96% averge spam rate
2. Toucan = 92.5%
3. Force 9= 90.3%
4. UK Servers = 89.9%
5. Pipex = 88.5%
6. MacUnlimited.net = 85.9%
7. Sky = 84.9%
8. BT Internet = 84/7%
9. TalkTalk = 82.8%
10. Tiscali = 81.3%
As an example, the ClearMyMail survey shows that 96% of emails then went through the ClearMyMail anti-spam system via Orange ISP’s were either spam or contained a virus.
Previously, Orange’s last quarter results placed them at number six on the list with an 89% average spam rate. TalkTalk showed the greatest improvement (from 95% to 82.8%).
The survey also revealed which countries were responsible for sending the highest volume of spam emails. The Top 10 countries sending spam to UK Email accounts were:
1. USA= 19.53%
2. UK = 15.68%
3. Uruguay = 6.45%
4. Turkey
5. Russia = 3.68%
6. Spain = 3.46%
7. Poland = 3.29%
8. Germany = 3.25%
9. China = 3.19%
11. France = 3.12%
