Customers of RedTen Internet received correspondance from Fatcat Communications Ltd (Fatcat Internet) yesterday after it was confirmed that the ISP had acquired some of RedTen Internet’s assets.
RedTen Internet has obtained a respectable customer base in the past thanks to its free laptop offer for all new customers. It was also announced yesterday that NJPServices had pulled out of its existing broadband supply deal with RedTen, raising speculation that the ISP was in troubled waters.
Fatcat sent out of the following statement to all RedTen customers:
I am pleased to advise you that with effect from 20th June 2008 Fatcat Communications Ltd has acquired some of the assets of Redten Communications Ltd and will now be responsible for the provision of your Broadband service under your existing contract with Redten.
This transfer does not affect the terms of your contract in any way.
We have been made aware of some concerns around Redten’s service in recent months and rest assured that we can assure you that Fatcat will work to ensure that your service in future will be of the highest standard.
I am also pleased to confirm that we have the full support of Clode Retail Finance Ltd (the finance provider to your Redten account) and we will work closely with them to ensure we answer any questions you may have.
In practice you will see no change to your current broadband service however if you do have any queries please contact our Customer Service Team on the telephone number listed below.
Fatcat Customer Service 0844 773 0050 email cs@fatcatinternet.com
Fatcat Technical Support 0871 317 1004 email is@fatcatinternet.com
(Please note should you find the line engaged then please email your enquiry)
In order to avoid any doubt we can also confirm that you will enjoy a full `unlimited’ broadband service as per your original contract.
You will have received some correspondence on this point in recent weeks highlighting the industry’s concerns around ‘illegal’ downloading and in light of this I would draw your attention to our Fair Use Policy, which forms part of your contract for the broadband service.
We hope to make further exciting announcements on new Fatcat services in the coming months and we will be in touch about these in the near future.
Speculation is now rising, however, that the e-mail address sent out to all customers wishing to receive more information (@watford.co.uk) bears a distinct resemblance to that of an older RedTen owner, insinuating that the new take over is more of a re-branding than a change in ownership.
Customers who no longer wish to make use of the service and change their ISP are free to apply for a broadband migration code (MAC) can contact NJPServices.

I paid Redten for 3yrs in advance in 2006. Now after being cut off by Redten for the second time, I have done the sensible thing and taken my MAC and moved ISP. Redten have been uncontactable since March 2008. Avoid them and any reincarnation (eg Fatcat Internet) like the plague. They just want your money and will dump you if their business model proves wrong (which it usually is).
A customer from the start in 2006. I paid by the requested method via Clode Finance Ltd, unlike cageyr who paid all 3yrs up front.
Redten & partner Clode breached my contract in March 2008 and have then gone on to refuse to even answer their phones to me and systematically reduce my connection to less than dialup speeds, whilst I tried to establish what was going on.
Total failure of either company to rectify their breach, left me the only option available, sue them for breach of contract through the courts
NO ONE to date ie OFT, OFCOM or any other offical bodies have done anything to help any of Redten/Fatcat/Clode customers.
Therefore many many other unfortunate Redten customers have also found that the ONLY way to get these people to DO something about their horrendous service is to sue them.
FYI Fatcat was setup in May 2008 by Clode and ‘they’ sold Redten back to themselves.
So it isn’t just me who hasn’t been able to access any kind of contact with them since March and they still continue to take £24.99 pcm.
