Broadband enhancing iPlates distributed for free
Wednesday 01 October 2008
BT has announced that it is to distribute its broadband-boosting iPlates to broadband providers for free in an attempt to speed up their online services.

Said to improve broadband speeds by up to 60 percent, the iPlate works by reducing electrical interference from household appliances to cut out any excessive noise on the broadband line.
BT will also be selling the device to other broadband providers. These will be distributed in the event that their customers experience trouble with their connections. BT is predicting that ISPs will not charge customers for this device (retailing for an average of £10-£15), instead making loss on the device in a hope that the customer will be more satisfied with the service.
