Vodafone to offer built-in mobile broadband laptops

Wednesday 16 July 2008

New Vodafone mobile broadband customers will have the opportunity to purchase a laptop with mobile broadband built-in thanks to a new offer in conjunction with Lenovo. All new ThinkPad notebooks in both the T, X and SL series up for grabs will come with the new connectivity option built in as standard. For those customers who aren't sure whether they would like to make use of the in-build connectivity a free 30-day trial will be an option. All of the laptops come pre-installed and so no software is needed. Users merely have to supply their name, address and credit card details to get going. After the 30 days customers will then be able to opt to continue with the service or stop using it altogether.

Vodafone has said that it thinks in-built mobile broadband laptops will be the norm by next year and to encourage customers to sign up it is offering unlimited data usage around Europe, USA, Japan and Hong Kong for a set rate of £8.50 per day. The Lenovo laptops will be available from the 4th August.
