Broadband and phone bundles

If you're looking to get the best out of your broadband deal, several of the internet service providers have the option of including some kind of telephone deal into the bargain. BT line & new broadband provider

If you decide to take BT as your home broadband provider, BT will of course bill you for both services. However, if you let another internet service provider (such as The Post Office, Virgin Media, O2 or TalkTalk) supply your broadband through BT's line, some will also give you the option of handling the billing of your BT telephone too. This can often work out cheapest, or give a slightly different package that may suit you more (for example, free local calls or calls to mobiles). It also keeps things tidier, with one bill covering both services.

Adding mobile minutes

Some of the top-end deals can even add a mobile phone, with free minutes included, although you'll be looking to pay around £30 per month for the contract. Another option is paying for an expensive mobile phone contract that in turn reduces the cost of your broadband, such as the offers currently available through Orange for its mobile subscribers.

Cable via Virgin Media

It's important to note that you'll have a new Virgin Media cable telephone line installed, with a new number, if you have Virgin Media's broadband/television services put into your home. Whether you use it or not is of course up to you, but there's not a lot of point paying two lots of line rental. It may be worth cancelling your old BT line when you have cable installed.
