looks like i am not the only one who is fed up with bt services, the problem is a lack of investment in their exchanges, Grantham has one for about 50,000 homes & it it is knackered, on my estate we use pidgeons to communicate because it's quicker, as for the call centre, if you ask a question that is not on the operators card in front of them your doomed. I would change but as bt run the exchange all providers can only offer a rubbish service. BT= Bas***d Tw*ts

I thought I was being unreasonable when I made call number 5 to BT tech support about the poor quality of my broadband,I put the phone down on the chap as he kept repeating the same rubbish.I keep being told that my broadband speed is good, well I think that's what he said but I cant be sure. When I read all these comments I realised that I wasn't being unreasonable at all,I would not recommend BT to anyone and I will not renew my contract with them.

Disconnected all the time, slow speed, laughable customer service, when will BT provide a adequate service?
-

Have been with sky for more than 5 years and not one problem... Moved home and decided to switch to BT broadband... Day 2 and the speed of the broadband is so appalling my session timeouts before a page can load... Called BT customer services who I have say are all Indian and by the way so am I... I can't understand a word! God help those who are not Indian! The constant appologies are starting to really get on my nerves! All I want is my broadband and if I don't have the service I signed up for then why am I paying for it? The answer to this question that customer services had for me was 'even if your service is slow you still have a service, the connection is there so we cannot compensate you'... That in my opinion is appalling customer service! Will not let this rest! 24 more hours and BT will be losing a customer! Not that they care anyway!

When my contract is up, I'll be cancelling with BT and I vow never to use them again for anything. I set up a business telephone line and broadband subscription last year. It was one problem after the other just getting it set up with both the phone line and the broadband.
Every few weeks, my internet connection will ground to a halt. It does not actually disconnect but I cannot do anything. The speed tests can be anything between 0 and around 2.0.
I'm actually trying to run an 'online' business so I have to leave work and go home to do my work with my home pc and my 'excellent sky broadband connection' which I've had for years and years without a single problem.
Every time the connection goes, I ring them, they do their diagnostic tests and tell me they cannot see any issues then they send an engineer out (usually a couple of days wait and sometimes they don't turn up and have to be re-booked, another couple of days) and he goes through all his diagnostic tests, can never find a problem so goes to the exchange, comes back and tells me that there was a problem at the exchange which does actually sort out the problem but each time it happens, I have no internet for days and days and when it's fixed, it only lasts a few weeks.
How am I supposed to run a business with this shoddy service? I'm actually beyond angry and just want to cry. I've tried to cancel with them as they cannot provide a reliable service but they won't let me out of the contract unless I pay them over £200 which I think is immoral as they should be compensating 'me' for all the down time, the stress and the massive effect that it is having on my business. They just apologise to me over and over again. I don't want apologies, I just want them to either get to the root of the problem or let me out of the contract!
I would strongly advise anybody against using BT services. -

Rude, patronising, arrogant and argumentative. Absolutely disgusted and that's just the so called 'Customer Service.' BT do not include CUSTOMER CARE in any package. If they did I'm sure they would be charging extra.....Keep a close eye on your bill!!
Haven't even mentioned the appalling Broadband speed. Who am I supposed to contact about it, customer services??? I don't think so!!!
....... WORDS JUST FAIL ME.....PRETTY MUCH LIKE BT.

substandard service from a substandard company
-

cant wait until october when I can dump the BT broadband where it belongs (in the bin). Having been a BT customer for decades I cant believe how I have been treated and the shoddy service I have received, loyalty plainly counts for nothing with BT. Will be switching my account to a new provider.
-

I've just strayed into this site from TalkTalk.......but I have exactly the same comments to make.I am thinking of changing ISPs because of the appaliling service I've received....but,it appears, I'm not alone !
-

very misleading company, sick of being ripped off, NEVER AGAIN!!!!
-

i have just had bt broadband after friend recomended it ,i musst now have the worst broadband provider in the country i cant even get it on my computer, and e mails are non excistent. ican now make a cup of tea while waiting to even use my computer speed is down to 1.8. bring me back aon no problems speed 8

Just stay away from BT, they are so bad I cannot even find the appropriate words to describe. If i were to design a customer support to be the worst possible with a deliberate intent to give terrible customer service, the BT model is the one to follow. They are dishonest, lack understanding and dont give a damn. Do yourself a favour and choose anyone else.
-

BT must have without a doubt the worst customer service in the industry. I have spent hours either trying to make them understand what I am saying, waiting for them to speak to a superior or waiting for them not to phone me back as arranged. It's almost as if they are working off a plan to frustrate irate customers into simply giving up through sheer mental exhaustion. I have now just surrendered, cut my losses and I am switching to another provider. Their customer service is an absolute disgrace.

Quite simple, ditch BT and use 3 mifi dongle with payg sim cards, cheap and it works and travels with you, saves a fortune in costs. Have not had a fixed telephone line for 6 months now and will never go back.

sorry but the powers that be dont care i have sky broadband through bt phone line and every day between 1800 hr and 2300 hrs the download speeds are a crime what to watch a video about how to fix something well for get it my browser wont open up !! i have sent a letter of to ofcom so we will see if this helps
you see what has happened is bt sat back for decades taking the monies and not keeping up with the times now they look at virgin broadband with green eyes i was with virgin for years great service never slow always fast
but bt might be broken up to private business and then you would see things improve i am like every one else i would pay a bit more for a good service -

It is sad that I have to use a 3 mobile dongle to download some files because BT isnt up to the job. Their broadband service is like their customer service beyond a joke.
-

STILL getting a rubbish service from BT. Why is it that 3 mobile can give a better service? Does BT actually care about the dreadful service they provide or do they just care about fleecing their customers?
-

BT gives snail mail a new meaning (quicker to send by post than send a email using BT broadband)
-

BT must be the worst ISP ever, low broadband speed, disconnections all the time and a customer service that belongs in the dark ages.
-

For a leading UK service provider BT are the pits..service continuity- Rubbish: after sales service-Rubbish; communication-Rubbish. how are they allowed to get away with it? how are you allowed to advertise a service which is not a service? If I sold a car and said it would reach 120MPH and it only reached 60MPH would the customer accept it? but in the case of BT the residents and business people in the UK have to put up with it !!!!
-

Slow speed, disconnected when the speed is adequate, BT pull your finger out
-

3 mobile speed 1,46 mbps. BT broadband speed 0.46 mbps. says it all
-

BT are definitely RUBBISH at customer service. I have had to complain so many times before anybody even bothered to contact me. My BT wireless router doesnt work, an engineer came to my house and he couldnt get it to work, the call centre in India cant get it to work, so I have to use my 12 year old Belkin router. BT say the contract is to supply broadband and not to guarantee wireless usage. What a load of old CR*P.

Mickey Mouse service from a Mickey Mouse company 0/10 for effort
-

Does anyone go more than 29 minutes without being disconnected?
-

I thought BT would be the best broadband provider, how wrong I was, even 3 mobile provide a better service. I get disconnected all the time with BT but perhaps once a week with 3 mobile. If 3 mobile can produce a decent service why cant BT.
-

BT have the worst customer service I've ever encountered and their costs are astronomical! They think nothing of charging people an obscene amount of money for a sub standard connection that decides when and if it wants to work. I'm now looking for a new internet/phone and line rental company that thinks more of its customers and that don't try and charge £49 a month for unlimited broadband/line rental and evening and weekend calls. And yes I did say £49 a month.......

We have just moved to a rural area and our only options for tv, broadband and internet as a package seem to be BT or Sky. Just fallen out with Sky today for a few reasons and am investigating BT. But after reading the above comments I am very put off BT. Does anyone have any other suggestions for an effective package for a rural area and/or is there anyone who does reccomend BT at all please? thanks

Oops, the post below should read Kbps, not Mbps!
I was obviously getting too hopeful when writing that!
