About Tiscali

Recent troubled waters for Tiscali have been calmed somewhat by its sale to The Carphone Warehouse, but the brand isn't out of the woods yet. Carphone has said its offers in the short term will be centred on its flagship TalkTalk brand, leaving Tiscali customers a little out in the cold. This means its deals won't be getting any better for a while, and sadly its support was never anything to write home about: sometimes expensive, often based abroad and only tech cover is 24/7. In fact, if you're currently a Tiscali customer, the best news out there is several ISPs have been running special offers for you to switch over to them:
PLusNet are currently offering three months free broadband for Tiscali customers - use voucher code tiscalisave at the payments screen stage.

Despite all this, Tiscali had more than 1.7 million subscribers at the last count. The Italian telecommunications company rose in worldwide prominence during the mid-90s with an aggressive European expansion campaign. In the UK it brought London-based ISP Homechoice in 2006 and the popular Pipex in 2007, taking its user base at the time to almost two million. However the migration of Pipex customers to Tiscali caused major disruptions, and complaints of poor service have dogged the company ever since.

It's a shame, as Tiscali offers some good value deals and interesting packages: its £25 per month offering costs £99 to set up, but then you get a wireless router, 70 channels of digital television, free line rental and free anytime calls over a 12-month contract. If Carphone can steady the Tiscali ship, it can be a serious player once more.

I have been unable to upload to my web space for over 1 week now and have had no helpful replies from tiscali / talk talk. I have sent several emails and have made several phone calls, ususally having to wait over 10 minutes to talk to someone, then often being put on hold and left on hold. Only after asking for my MAC code could I talk to someone who gave me a different techincal support number (which isn't available on their website), they also offered no suggestions that I haven't tried already. A friend is now hosting my web site for me, and would NEVER recommend using talk talk, their techincal support is virtually non existent. Also they keep taking my direct debit out early before I get paid. I am considering moving to Madasafish or BT at present.

Some time ago I left TalkTalk because their service was total S**t
Then I joined Tiscali with an Unlimited download service
There were a few rocky patches along the way but largely I did have unlimited downloads
then a while ago TalkTalk took over Tiscali and the service has gone totally down the tubes
Over the last few weeks downloading has been virtually impossible
The fair usage policy always clearly stated that heavy users might have their bandwidth managed during peak hours which are from 6:00pm til 11:00pm
and that outside these hours the service would be completely unaffected

I could live with this but since TalkTalk took over bandwith is being affected outside peak hours
this is therefor limiting how much can be downloaded
Since my contract is for unlimited downloads as far as I am concerned TalkTalk are therefor in breach of contract
The industry regulators have confirmed that TalkTalk are acting unlawfully but will not act as they say they are unable to get involved in individual cases
So the regulators have said TalkTalk are breaking the law and may continue to break the law as much as they please
I have to wonder who got a financial thankyou to look the other way

My monthly credith card charge has just been brought forward by two weeks without any notification, this will mean I lose two weeks usage.
Agee with others that system is slow and to ring Talk Talk about my account will cost me 10p per minute.
