    Sadly, Sky, who bought the comapny out a couple of years ago, have decided to close UK Online down, which is why they aren't taking any new customers. I've been with them for 10 years with dial-up and broadband. They've been cheap and reliable and their customer service has been excellent. Very disappointing news!

    I am on a 1 meg package for about £10 a month. There is a fairly good contention ration and when I check the speed, I am getting about 650k, which is enough until both my teenage children want to stream content at the same time! I want to go faster, but reading the reviews of some of the cheap options, it sounds like I don't do too badly. The few times I have called customer support (in Ireland), they have been very helpful and seem knowledgeable compared to some of the script followers I have dealt with elsewhere.
    If your requirements are as low as your budget, this could be a good option.

    Best Isp Ihave had
    Have been with them almost 3 years
    Speed always between 18 - 19.5Mbs
    Support has always been excellent, anything sorted straight away

    Terrible provider. Signed up for up to 22mb package and didn't even get connected. They charged me in error and refused to refund. I lost money as it was for my business and they refused to reimburse me. I had to issue County Court proceedings to get them to settle. Not recommended at all!

    I've been with UKonline for 12 Months on 22Meg. I've had a great broadband speed upload and download.

    Customer Service is great very friendly... The Tech Support are a horror... They all seem very young and with youth comes arrogance... So for an IT veteran like myself... i simply suffered in silence...

    To quote a member of staff there "I know I told you to do it.. but I can't be held responsible, it's was a free choice!" :)

    I've been with UK Online for over 2-years and in the main the service has been very good. I had a few problems, due to my lack of knowledge of broadband, when I signed up and installed the equipment but these were sorted out by their UK based staff. Occasionally the Voyager modem supplied by them has stopped polling with the exchange but has been put right by uninstalling/installing the drivers again. Another niggling problem that has recently come to light is when I am downloading, especially from the likes of Rapidshare and Megaupload who can download to my max. speed of 2mb. Not sure if some sort of limiter has been set at the exchange but I usually get to about 50mb of a download and I get disconnected and have to start again. There doesn't seem to be a problem with any of the slower p2p services. So in all I'm very happy for now but if this particular problem persists I may think about transferring to Be Broadband which has an 8mb service for the same cost

    At 7:30pm till I got to bed I have a 200k connection its supposed to be 2mb.

    I can hardly load web pages, let alone play games on the internet.

    I am going to give them the chance, because there service is excellent, by switching to their 8mb connection on a less contested ukonline line instead of the bt one, but I'm not very confident.

    Recently with UKOnline (on my 2mb connection) I get between 100kb and 400kb on an evening. It drops up and down every few seconds and I can't keep a live connection for more than 15 minutes.

    During the day its great I get the full 2mb and don't disconnect. But peak time its absolutely awful and far worse than dial-up.

    I am a user of UK Online for well over a year. I am on the 1Mb service which is all my family and I need. The service is fantastic, the only problems I have ever had with my connection was router-related. They have a freephone helpline with sensible, qualified technicians who can reasonably advise you if you do need it and even their billing department is very helpful - often going out of their way to ensure you are billed correctly. I have had some problems with this over the course of my contract but it was always solved quickly and concisely over the phone.

    Highly recommended.
