I live in a rural location 7KM from an exchange and the BT engineer says he had never seen a telephone based broadband work at this distance and the continual drop outs were to be expected, plus getting 56K out of a 2M package was lucky at this distance.

Vodafone saved my bacon by putting a mast up 400m from our house. Now we get a constant 1Mb mobile broadband. Thanks vodafone.
