I signed up to Wanadoo broadband at their website on my ntl:world dial-up connection, they are appalling. Please tell me the layout of my user-name on my router (eg: mrb@wanadoo.com)

Since Wanadoo were taken over by Orange the service has been dreadfull. I tried to change to another server in January but was persuaded to switch to a new contract Retention Plus at £9.99 per month instead of the £17.99 I had been paying for the same package. The connection speed showing on the screen is 7.6 mbps, but it does seem slow so I have checked it against other speed checkers and they are showing a speeds of 1.76 or 3.2mbps depending on which speed checker site I have used. Where do I go from here? can I cancell for reason of miss- representation?

I had a wannado contract and had nothing but trouble from the word go, the wireless stoped working, help line what a joke, they said i should email my problems to the help team, great if you could email ! . it stoped working after 10 months, when the 12 month contract was up i canceled. i found this site while trying to find a contact number for them, as they have been taken money from my bank for 15 months and i'm out of pocket about £300.

short and simple, don't waste your time with this provider!. I unfortunately opened an account with this company, boy how i wished i hadn't. first of all they sent the wrong modem and software 3 times, during this time a month had passed and they charged me a months rental for a service that i hadn't even got connected to!, then when i finally got the correct package, i found that i could't get connected, after many hours spent talking to their useless customer service and technical team and yet another months payment taken for no service, i finally had had enough and told them that i wanted to cancel my contract. i was told i could do that providing i paid up the remaining 10 months of my contract, after many more phone calls i paid up and then took my case to trading standards. they fully backed my case and got me a full refund from this company along with a full apology.

This organisation is a joke. Signed on with Freeserve and it seemed OK.
Connection problems have appeared in the last 6 months and an expensive call at National rate (with long hold) got me through to a gentleman in Asia whom I could not understand or make understand.
They hide behind remote telephone numbers, have no e.mail address themselves and their so called customer care could not, it seems to me, give a damn.
My automatic log in needs up to 110 attempts and I am now being disconnected every 15 minutes or so despite paying for Broadband service.
Thinking of using them? Masochist! -

I too had a Wanadoo account and over the year before they were taken over by Orange had a perfect service, even the customer advisors were fantastic when I rung. Then Orange took over and I have had no end of problems, I dont understand how my box can suddenly stop working I ring and complain (which as a number of other people have stated takes an age and is very flustrating) the box suddenly starts working again! The Techincal support dont understand what your asking or how the box even works!
I would personally recomend that anyone looking at getting broadband avoid Orange or if your coming to the end of your contract switching to another supplier with a call centre in the UK so people actually understand what your asking.
As for complaining I've tried and have been ignored also, again I've also on many occassions slammed the phone down on there staff.
You have been warned!

I had two accounts with Wanadoo, one at my parents house and one at my flat. At my parent's we had a non-wireless set up and no problems. At my flat our wireless stopped working after a month or so, and and we had to endure Wanadoo's idea of 'customer service'.
It was absolutely awful. I was kept on hold for days; I was lied to by Wanadoo employees on a number of occasions; a Wanadoo employee hung-up on me when I asked to speak to a manager, and to top it all off our problem was never resolved and we had to pay Wanadoo to cancel our non-functioning service (the whole process of trying to resolve the problem took around 4 weeks).
I am a reasonable guy and I dont complain to companies very often but I can barely express how frustrating it was to deal with these people, it was a nightmare. Even if they are changing their name to Orange I'm sure they will keep the same terrible customer support staff and awful approach to dealing with customers. -

Out of all we started with Freeview, that was sold to Wanaddo and now Oreange. They have mainly an Indian Call Centre who try to answer Technical matters, thye keep you on the phone far longer than they should and you end up not resolvig the problem but exhausted with trying to get them to understand ENGLISH, thye are not too briolliant at modern day English. Then you have to eproblem of the speed, we pay for 8Mbps and the service is running constantly at 1.1Mbps. For over a year tyhe ahve saiod taht tyhe will improve, yet have not. Their promises are not worth listening to they have no value. Thye are currently promising 8Mbps to new subsrcribers but they have not delivered that to their existing customers. To get the MAC code rom them you have to spaek to them, then thye send Emails teb days after thye say they will but give a month to activate from the day you requested it. You cannot complain, thare is nobody to complain to, they do not respond to letters but wont accept Emails

I chose wanadoo last october (2005) - they had a special package offer on so I paid less for the first 6 months. I'd heard that b/band could be really difficult to set up, but their package was really straight forward...once i finally got the right softwear that is!
First attempt - modem never turned up.
Second attempt - modem turned up. turned out to be the wrong one (i'd ordered wirless)
Third attempt - the softwear CD was corrupt.
Fourth attempt - finally got broadband!
About a month and a half had past before i reached my fourth attempt. they even charged me for extra month of their mess ups! Did try to claim back, but got board of being put on hold all the time.
Having said that, they'll always be the small percentage of unlucky customers so i wouldn;t want to generalise. They were very good after all this!
