Try comparing the cost of telewest - the prices are out of control - i pay over £50 a month for basic tv, very average bb and free evening & weekend calls. I'm going back to BT, with Virgin BB and cheap calls and a freeview box for half the price. I wont miss the pay per view films, they may have hundreds, but try and find one you like! Adios TWBB

Generally telewest (blueyonder) have provided a pretty good solid service for the time I have been with them (nearly 2 years now). I use their "Elite" 10meg service.
Sometimes the speed isn't quite as quick as publicised - I get 6meg often which is fine for me really. Also, I have known the service to go down from time to time about once a month, or slow down, but usually it is only for 10 minutes or so.
Oh - and It's cable which means I don't need to use a phone line - yey. I'd recommend it.

I've been signed to Telewest Blueyonder for several years now, and have always been impressed with their Customer, and Technical helplines manned by UK residents who are very helpful. Very rarely has their internet connection gone down. I have now disconnected their phone service, and use a VOIP phone instead which saves me money. Would recommend Telewest to anyone ( it is unlimited you now !! ) Only criticism is a faster connection speed on the basic package would be nice.

Having dealt with ADSL providers I found dealing with Telewest very relaxing. I, personally, am willing to pay a premium for decent customer service. Telewest customer reps know what they're talking about with regards to their policies, answer your call quickly, and can even deal with your call if you've come through on the wrong extension. Unlike an ADSL provider I could never get through to and eventually had to send a letter by recorded delivery to cancel my contract.
I have the 2Mb package which is £18/month, however you don't pay line rental (£11/month) as with ADSL, get good customer service, and no download cap. Overall a good service.
I do have one gripe though. Increasinly the, not the connection speed, but the latency of the connection gets temporarily worse. Latency is normally 50ms, but can get as bad as 2000ms. This means you add 2 seconds to every download. Not a problem for larger downloads, but very problematic for single webpages - might as well have dialup.
