About Tiscali

Recent troubled waters for Tiscali have been calmed somewhat by its sale to The Carphone Warehouse, but the brand isn't out of the woods yet. Carphone has said its offers in the short term will be centred on its flagship TalkTalk brand, leaving Tiscali customers a little out in the cold. This means its deals won't be getting any better for a while, and sadly its support was never anything to write home about: sometimes expensive, often based abroad and only tech cover is 24/7. In fact, if you're currently a Tiscali customer, the best news out there is several ISPs have been running special offers for you to switch over to them, such as Sky.

Despite all this, Tiscali had more than 1.7 million subscribers at the last count. The Italian telecommunications company rose in worldwide prominence during the mid-90s with an aggressive European expansion campaign. In the UK it brought London-based ISP Homechoice in 2006 and the popular Pipex in 2007, taking its user base at the time to almost two million. However the migration of Pipex customers to Tiscali caused major disruptions, and complaints of poor service have dogged the company ever since.

It's a shame, as Tiscali offers some good value deals and interesting packages: its £25 per month offering costs £99 to set up, but then you get a wireless router, 70 channels of digital television, free line rental and free anytime calls over a 12-month contract. If Carphone can steady the Tiscali ship, it can be a serious player once more.

I dont usually write on these things but I will today. I have been with Tiscali since 2003 and up until 2007 I would say thay were pretty good. However since then it has been nothing but downhill. The connection is bad, I find there customer services a little obtuse and there are alot more better deals out there. Sorry Tiscali, you really have to up your game plan.

tiscali are awful - do not use. I had no service at all for 3 months - 1 quarter of my contract but had to pay for the service. I was also charged a huge telephone rate for all my calls for tech support - most of which consisted of listening to 10-15 minutes of awful musc before someone answered, I would then be forced to prove again who I was by answering a series of questions then I would have to go through a description of my problem in great detail before i was told I was speaking to the wrong department and would hold for another 15 mins and go through the same face again. Eventually after many frustratings evenings I was told that they couldn't fix the fault anyway.
Everyone I know on Tiscali hates them also.
Never use them - you have been warned

they are useless, dont call back when they are supposed to, they can't even manage to change details despite being asked on several occasions. no one has even tried to sort out the fault I first called about over three weeks ago. would recommend anyone but tiscali!

Despite the numerous scathing reviews of how bad tiscali's service is, I've had such awful experience with them I feel compelled to write another. My experience with them was so incredibly poor, frustrating, time-consuming and expensive I feel they operate on a principle of robbery via fees for customer service.

While charging me a rate of 10p per minute for support, I regularly held for 15-20 minutes and would be then be asked to hold frequently through the call and usually end up getting transferred several times to have to explain the situation all over again. The myriad problems were mind blowing---after moving 3 years they continued to bill my old address, my service was dropped with no explanation, I was signed up for a TV package that I didn't request (I don't own a TV). I felt sorry for the polite staff on the phone in India, but they were completely incapable of communicating with other departments, identifying my history of complaints, or taking any direct action. It was always 'we're escalating your case and you will recieve a call in 24 hours' - which I never did.

Honestly, a service so poor it was maddening. Don't even consider them.
