I have been with Sky for a number of years and when getting Broadband from Sky I was told that my download speed would be around 1Mb/s, which is what I have been getting. I would like to improve this, but I'm not sure if this slow speed is due to my local exchange (approx 2.5 miles away), the cabling to my house or my cabling from the phone socket to my PC. The PC is connected to the main phone socket and I also have a BTiplate and microfilter installed. The cable from the socket to the modem (Netgear) is about 1 metre, and the cable from the modem to the PC (upstairs) is approx 10 metres.
If the slow speed is due to problems between the exchange and my house I don’t want to go to any trouble of changing anything in the house if it not going to make any difference.
