Report abuseI dont understand everybody moaning about using these t-mobile dongles.I am in stoke on trent and recieve a brilliant signal. Also very easy to check the signal in your area via your post code before you buy,ask in the shop before you purchase. As for content lock just use hide my ass,its a add on and once installed you click on the icon in your taskbar when you want to visit sites that are normally being blocked. At all other times just dont use it so no need to ring anyone or visit any shop or give credit card details over the internet. Also when you first plug in the dongle and the t-mobile software installs you will also be installing bytemobile optimization client (another add on) easily turned off or disabled in task manager or via your add ons in your browser. If you do turn it off your monthly gb allowance will get used up alot more quickly so i would just leave it and if you click on tools from the t-mobile connection manager you can go to options and then accelerator and adjust the browsing speed and picture clarity from there. I have used 3three dongles in the past and maybe thay are the cheapest as in £10 for 1gb for 30 days or £15 for 3gb for 90 days, even cheaper off ebay though but once the gb is used no more internet where as on t-mobile you can still browse so perfect in my eyes. Also my suggestion is to get some usb cables and always put the dongle in a window for better reception, just keep checking to make sure its not getting to warm cause that means its struggling for a signal. Now t-mobile share the signal with orange i have found where i had a bad signal before now automatically pick a strong orange signal up so also worth checking how the orange signal is in your area before buying. Also i suggest turning off your automatic updates in windows and on your anti virus software and that way you can control when you download any updates.I suggest doing it late at night and only when you have plenty of credit left.

Report abusetmobile dongle. you can bypass with proxpn or hotspot shield, google them they both allow you to watch vids. hotspot shield used to let me download after fair use but not now still worth a try as it might be my set up.
-
Report abuseThe unlimited internet lasted 4 days. Waste of money
-
Report abuseI had to wait 6 months for T-Mobile to come up with a dongle that would work with the latest Mac Lion operating system on my new Mac, and when they finally did, I discovered they'd taken the balance of money out of my account as I'd gone over 6 months without using their mobile broadband service! They couldn't even manage to send me an emila to warn me. You couldn't make this stuff up.

Report abuse"i would rather have saddam hussien to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad! or be bitten by a dog rather than a crocodile."
Nothing up with ahmadinejad he was democratically elected. you realy should ignore what you read in the british media. -
Report abusei would like to re-iterate my last point above.
when we now have mobile phones that connect to youtube, flash movie streaming sites, and all forms of downloading capabilities. i would like to genuinly know WHAT NOW IS THE EXCUSE OF THE PRICING AND LIMITED SPEEDS FORCED ON US BY DONGLE NETWORKS LIKE o2 t-mobile, 3, orange etc? they REALLY HAVE NO EXCUSE ANY MORE, AND THE TIME IS RIPE FOR REAL COMPETITION FORM AN UNKOWN OUTSIDERS, like freddy laker with cheap international travel in the 80s, or ryan air in the 90s. and megabus now.
come on t-mobile, we arnt daft, and your popularity, though not always for decent reasons, is flagging, folk may not be able to understand why they are getting fed uop, but they do know THEY ARE GETTING FED UP.
i had three days in the past week where my speed hovered around 0.7kbps and simple browsers couldnt load! most new phones could have coped in those times. but a dongle which is COMMITTED to the net only, unlike a phone, cant cope? really, shoddy.
however, t-mobile is still the fairest deal. but that is like saying i would rather have saddam hussien to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad! or be bitten by a dog rather than a crocodile. -
Report abuseThey still do the 12-4PM, You just need to have been on a specific plan before Feb 2011, WHen they changed the data. AM using it as we speak. Last month i used 84.72GB and am still goin :D , The new limits can be bypassed by using a SSTP VPN or HTTPS proxy.
FYI the plan you need to be on is Web'n'walk Plus Daily 2 Or Web'n'walk Plus Daily 1

Report abusefolks, thank you for all your comments!
i was considering buying the t-mobile stick but having read all your problems, i am going to reconsider. thanks for putting your experiences online so that peeps like me won't be conned!
:-) -
Report abusethough i get issues with t-mobile dongle, i prefer it over any other due to the fact that after i go over download limit (which incidently i do within hours) i can still browse and do stuff for the rest of the month.
the first dongle i had from them a few years ago was a much better deal (this being before they were bought out by orange, which may be the key here) as the download limit was 2 or 3 gb! much more realistic, sort of, BUT when you went over, the limitation only kicked in between 4pm, and midnight. meaning of course that you could keep your downloaders on and they would automatically start at midnight. and also you could buffer online video while you slept. sdaly when they got bought out by orange that all got stopped. which was a bit of a pi**er as it was the main selling point.
noticed above THAT SOME FOLK HAVE ISSUES WITH SIGNAL LOSS! here is a fix:
(there are two main types of manager window forms that t-mobile dongles can have depending on which make of dongle it is, but there is a way to do it with the one i dont have that has a mini manager window)..
1. bring up your t-mobile broadband manager window
2. click tools > options > (see list on left hand side) network > registration mode > set to manual > (below that it will say for eg t-,mobile uk 3G) > click refresh (list appears of available networks) choose either orange (or t-mobile if it was orange that came up)
> click register, it'll verify, then you just click connect! do this anytime your signal gets stuffed!
also of note is to click "network type tab just beside the reg' mode tab. but to make this part work u need to DISCONNECT! go in there and make sure (generally) that is is actually set to 3G only. you can freely change this to siut, just disconnect to make this section active, set it to , for eg, 3G and then reconnect. i've had BIG improvements just by knowing this.
for some sad arsed reason the call centre folk wont tell you much of this, when they SHOULD< its your right and your dongle.
my main issue is that their excuse for not letting you for eg view youtube once are over limit, is because the dongles arnt designed for heavy usage. this int quite true. i've had is EASILY running up to 2.5mb per second, and they say its merely for laptop mobile usage etc... well, folk watch youtube on virgin trains and thats a t-mobile connection.
i would like to find a get-round for this. there is NO real reason why there should be a linit at all, as a dongle wont let so much traffic thru it anyhow.
i think it'll be a matter of time before we get a ryan air of the dongle world.
all said and done, i find it is the best deal, no other deal lets you continue to connect after your limit expires. and other networks like 3 keep disconnecting in the middle of important tasks ANYWHERE in the country. t-mobile GENERALLY isnt too bad that way. many of the complainers on that issue havnt spent much time on other network dongle to really know.
best thing for t-mobile to do, is screw ornage and go back to the unlimited between midnight and 4pm.
happy, but a little frustrated -
Report abusethe person above who asked about gaming!!! here is my experience, and i sincerely hope no t-mobile staff are reading a steal the ability to do thi away from me...
need for speed world (online driving game) first time you download the logon console and run it, it takes AGE (hours) to download the initial setup business, HOWEVER< once you let it go through that, each time only takes around 30 seconds for it to load the stuff it needs to initialise it.
then when you click "enter world" it does take anywhere from 30secs to 2 minutes for the world to load, and a little bit of time each time you teleport to races.
the game runs fine. occasionally wen driving very fast it seems you drive faster than the road loads, but i've had WORSE on a PS2 actually.
IT WORK VERY WELL for need for speed world.
also i use secondlife! it took me ages to get secondlife running with a dongle, and finally with t-mobile i find i can use secondlife when i am over my limit!!! cool
however, some features disbale. i cant initiate instant messaging in it, some one has to message me first. but i can ask them to do so on public chat!
i cant bring up folks profiles, but no big deal. and accasionally some worlds in secondlife take a hell of a long time to load. and in-world lag can really play mad tricks. but considering the tiny little huwai dongle, its really doing ok for its capabilities. secondlife is a humdinger anyhow.
using msn wont always work after download limit, even though the above games can! so not sure why that should be, and most alternative msn clients (pijin, aMSN) wont work wen over limit at all.
there do appear to be times when suddenyl and apparently unexpectadly the flow into your dongle speeds RIGHT up and you can do anything! so obviously at these times do, and grab all you can!! woopeee! then a few hours later BUMP, back to "normal".
and remeber, ALL mobile broadband companies use huweii dongles, so rubbishing thse ones for many of the reasons above is a bit naff. experiment with the settings (keep a notebook to remember original settings incase you do a blooper) see what works, you wont harm it..
and for folk who moan about constantly breaking dongles, i have had t-mobile dongles for a few years, and NO PROBLEMO! but when i visit friends with kids or teens, they move their setup around too often passing it around, andbumping the dongle while its in the USB port. this is just dumb, and you just cant blame the dongle for that kind of abuse. bl**dy hell.
back to the point, GAMING..
iof it is a flash game on a web page, it wont work (when over limit) but proper online games like need for speed world, and secondlife will! albiet clumsily, but give them a break!
hope thesee types of connectors have competators soon so we start to get better and faster speeds, and that the carriers (t-mobile, 3, o2 etc) start to stop taking the piss and genuilny give us competative pricing...
we can get FULL BROADBAND for our home PCs MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper than this, in fact UNLIMITED and mega MB speeds, so what REALLY is the excuse for the downside of mobile broadband... PHONES now have a better performance, and NO LIMITS like the dongles do (but this is company policy NOT the dongles performance, technically)
very very glad i have my t-mobile, but really frustrated from time to time -
Report abusei bought my tmobile dongle n i have tryd everything to unblock it but it just keeps saying it has sent me my activation pin wen it hasnt carnt evan get on the lottery sight coz its blocked

Report abusesick of my connection, actually thought i'd been hacked and someone had messed up my computer...that's how bad things are here.
not been able to connect all day, and get a random few minutes here and there, not even used my 'allowance' yet
got to say goodbye tmobile, you are making me depressed and wasting too much of my time.. -
Report abuseYep - I agree with fi's post... all good until 6moths ago, roundabout when they cancelled the unlimited usage between 12am and 4pm for pay as you go customers (me).
Now, streaming videos is painful (see fi's post) and your allowance runs out dead quick too.
Unless your only interested in browsing simply constructed pages forget it...
t-mobile's mobile internet is a waste of money. -
Report abusedo not bother to even try t-mobile. have used it for 2 years - all good until 6 months ago. Now I can't even watch a little video clip. Download speed goes from reasonable to a big
fat 00.00 within about 30 seconds. I am on contract with them but intend to challenge them on that because as far as I am concerned they are not honouring the terms of the contract.
I would really like to hear from anyone who is having similar problems - whether on contract or otherwise -
Report abuseT-Mobile are useless when I asked for help connecting their USB Stick 615 to my Draytek Vigor 2830n router. Draytek say it will work, T-mobile say it won't. Strange that models 610 and 620 work but not the 615.

Report abuseIf you have phone insurance with T-Mobile and you have recently hhad water damage make sure you cancel your policy because there is no clear definition ofoof water damage they are thieves

Report abuseI paid £15 for a months internet with t-mobile. The man in the t-mobile shop said i would get 1gb of downloads etc but if i was using the internet between midnight and 4pm it wouldn't come out of the allowance. LOAD OF TWADDLE. Now I have used my allowance, I have tried to go on Youtube etc between midnight and 4pm. Usually it doesn't allow me to watch anything, so far I have found about 3 videos I can play. I am so angry the man in the shop lied to me. I wouldn't recommend t-mobile to anyone. They clearly have huge staff training issues in that the training is inadequate or else they train the staff to lie to the customers. Plenty of other internet providers out there so they have lost definitely lost my custom.
-
Report abuseVery poor quality. Anyone who praises it is probably lying as they probably work for T-mobile. I bought an expensive dongle, can't use Facebook as it keeps not loading properly (despite being fine on computers that use wired internet), there is a content lock that I was not told about at the time of purchase - and on the notice about it, the only option given to unlock it is a credit card - so I have to get myself into loads of debt just to unlock a dongle???I've e-mailed T-mobile, they're supposed to respond in 48 hours at the most - it' been a lot longer and still no reply. Don't waste your money and don't trust the fake positive reviews from T-mobile staff.
-
Report abusemy 3 dongle aint letting me go on any games etc.... its been like this for 5 days now...... wot the hell is going on with it?????????
-
Report abuseT-Mobile I have is just as I expected it to be inches away from the ex station but I'm like 20+ miles away in a blackspot area but it shuts off and no light I've updated a million times it's there end they are elitists over us controlling our every move.
My 3.6Mbps is at 1.1Mbps or 140 ish KBps download lol
To work it out type in google search your Advertised speed like 3.6Mbps then to KBps
Example: 3.6Mbps to Kilobytes -
Report abuseI have used my pay as you go t.mobile dongle for about a year now and have always had a reasonable download and browser speed
-
Report abuseI topped up my dongle on 6/10/11 by £15,on the 25/10/11 i had no usage so i topped up another £15 still no usage,i phoned t mobile to be told no you can not use the £15 you have put on till the 5/11/11 when your 30 day bundle expires,i am disgusted as i believed that lasted for the whole month, but NO i have to watch what i do and how much i use, because they only supply 1gw for 30 days.the person i spoke to would not shut up and constantly spoke over me i am angry and annoyed as i was told what do i expect playing games on fb,well im sorry but WHO are you to limit my 30 days and tell me what i can and cant do
-
Report abuseWould you believe it - cup o' tea and guess what - NO CONNECTION ! 3G NUTS 3 GROANS - 3 GROWLS - 3 G**D G*D ALMIGHTY ! THE WORST BY FAR !
-
Report abuseOne VERY UNHAPPY BUNNY ! Not only does my PAID FOR connection keep disappearing on me you are stealing my download allowance every time you force me to reboot to the internet ! I would love to meet the people who voted you the best provider because I am sure I will meet extraterrestial life ! I have been forced to buy an alternate dongle just to ensure my ability to use the internet is not compromised ! What a rip off !
-
Report abusei bought a dongle on t.mobile and bought a top up £15 on line for the first time and it lasted one day of surfing and 1 down load it is the worst broad band company i have come across so i rand t.mobile and thay give me a excuse about the usage and said if i wanted to use the dongle again i would have to buy another sim because you can onlt top up once a month well £15 for 1 day is a total scam so i went to get a 02 dongle and got a better deal and service which i am happy with i recomend 02 to anyone
-
Report abuseBEWARE OF T_MOBILE PAYG BROADBAND OR YOU MAY GET CONNED> I had a daily PAYG dongle for use only when needed away from home, usually for girlguiding, a registered charity, because I have much quicker broadband via my landline. I told t-mobile it would seldom be used, hence daily payg. At no time was I told that if the sim card was left dormant they would cancel the account AND KEEP ALMOST £15 credit from the sim - they say I am not entitled to any refund. Needless to say I will be cancelling all accounts with T-mobile and passing on the message to all I know who could be affected in the same way.
