New short contract home broadband from O2

O2's re-brand of their home broadband packages this month included some interesting short-contract options which may appeal to anyone in rented accommodation who doesn't necessarily need broadband for a full year. Students in particular who are looking for a broadband connection until the end of this academic year, but won't need it next summer, should take a look at O2's new 30-day contracts.

There's a set up fee of £29.99 for the privilege of such a short, flexible contract.  Prices then start at £8/mth (if you are already an O2 mobile customer, £13/mth if you're not) which gives you O2 Basics broadband with speeds of up to 20Mb and 20GB of data downloads/mth.  If you do want to commit to a standard 12 month contract, there's no set up fee and you get the first 3 month's broadband free. O2 also now offer bundled broadband and phone packages.

Short contract broadband seems to be increasingly popular.  PlusNet already offer 1-month contract options on all their broadband packages, starting from £6.49/mth for their PlusNet Value product which included 10GB downloads/mth.  There is a £25 set up fee if you want the flexibility of a 30-day contract.
