Sony Ericcson Satio sales suspended until faults are fixed

The Sony Ericsson Satio hasn’t got off to the best start in the UK — both Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U have withdrawn the smartphone from sale after complaints from customers.
The Satio first surfaced back in August, when were saw an in-depth video review of this handset with a 12-megapixel camera, but hopes that this Symbian S60-based device would work wonders for Sony Ericssson Christmas sales seem to have been dashed.
The problem seems to lie with the software installed on Satio handsets sold in the UK and early customers are reported to have experienced unprompted power-downs when trying to use certain applications, disappearing ringtones and screen freezing. Some owners have detailed their problems on the Satio user review page at Right Mobilephone, with one claiming to be on their fourth — and still faulty — replacement handset.
Richard Dorman, senior marketing manager at Sony Ericsson, said that the problems will be resolved by Christmas and maintained that sales of the smartphone had so far been strong.
In the meantime, anyone having problems with a Sony Ericsson Satio bought from Carphone Warehouse or Phones4U can exchange their handset for a new phone.
