Intel launches mobile Linux project

Intel Mobiln deviceIntel has formally launched 'Moblin' - its open source Linux-for-mobile-devices project.

As mentioned in issue 6 of Mobile Computer, Moblin ties into Intel's plans for a leaner version of Linux for use on its up-coming ultra-mobile PC and Mobile Internet Device platforms - Menlow in 2008 and Moorestown in 2009.

Moblin is based at the Moblin.org site, which will act as a repository for such community projects as Ubuntu Mobile. Since the Moblin project is open source, the site will also carry source code, as well as executable images.
