Firefox mobile web browser due in 2008

Firefox logoThe Register is reporting that Mozilla will have a mobile version of the Firefox web browser ready some time in 2008. It will run Firefox extensions and support the Mozilla user interface language (XUL) for application development.

Windows Mobile's Pocket Internet Explorer is an adequate handheld web browser, but Opera has been available for handhelds for some time now and it recently announced a new version. Firefox has strong support on the desktop side though (unlike Opera), so it'll be interesting to see how a mobile version fares.
