BBC News asks 10-year olds to design handheld gadgets of the future
As part of its 10th birthday celebrations, BBC News asked a group of 10-year
old children to come up with some ideas for news-reading gadgets of the future.
Fed up with batteries that run flat and gadgets that get battered with use, the children thought up new ways to power their inventions and materials to withstand wear and tear.
Working in pairs or threes, their concepts ranged from a paper-thin thought-activated news screen to artificial intelligence to deliver content tuned to its user's mood.
Sadly, professional artists' impressions and expert interpretations pretty much sweep aside the kids' original ideas, but the solar-powered gadget that's operated by blowing should be [inappropriate attempt at humour redacted].
