UK iPhone ships with Jailbreak-proof 1.1.2 firmware

New iPod firmwareHaving gotten their hands on a UK iPhone ahead of the 9th November launch, the folks at T3 have discovered that it ships with the 1.1.2 firmware, which means no unlocking for UK users -- yet. The UK iPhone has a few new features, including support for multiple European languages* (with full support for French and German accented characters) and free access to The Cloud hotspots.

The new firmware reportedly fixes the TIFF exploit that allows iPhones running the 1.1.1 firmware to be unlocked simply by opening a web page in Safari. We reckon it'll take no more than a couple of weeks before some creative hacker figures out a new exploit...

* Apple-sanctioned unlocked iPhones will be available in France, so it'll be interesting to see if French units can be switched to English.
