Canon announces four new digital compact cameras, including the bargain PowerShot A590 IS
Canon has dropped four new compact digital cameras today, including a new 7 megapixel compact that costs just £109.
The A470 is one of three new models in Canon’s new PowerShot line-up, and has a 7.1 megapixel sensor with 3.4x optical zoom and face-detection technology. It has a range of shooting modes, including Manual, and an ISO range of 80 to 1600. It’s remarkably well-specified for a budget compact, but Canon’s generosity doesn’t end there…
The A590 IS sits at the top of the PowerShot range and it
packs in an amazing amount of features for a mere £159 – an 8 megapixel
sensor with optical image stabiliser, 4x optical zoom and full manual
control. In other words, features that would have set you back a few
hundred quid just a couple of years ago. If you don’t need quite this
array of tricks, the A580 does away with the optical image
stabilisation and full manual control and saves you £20 into the
bargain.
Canon’s ultra-compact IXUS range also gets a new model –
the IXUS 80 IS. This has an 8 megapixel sensor (one up from the current
IXUS 70) with an optical image stabiliser, 3x optical zoom, face
detection and 18 shooting modes. It measures a mere 86.8 x 54.8 x 22mm
and costs £219.
