Lenovo retires the 4:3 laptop

Lenovo T61Laptops with 4:3 screens are officially a dying breed. Lenovo's just pulled the 14.1in 4:3 version of its T61, leaving only wide-screened versions available.

While widescreens are undoubtedly superior for movies, they're not everyone's cup of tea for use as a workspace. Laptop makers like them because they make it easier to have a full size keyboard and - cunningly - fewer pixels are needed to make up those headline grabbing screen sizes.

For 4:3 fans there are still some options available. Dell's Latitude D530 has a 15in XGA screen and, for now, Lenovo still offers its ThinkPad X series of ultraportables in 4:3. Last of a long line, perhaps?
