Haptic feedback coming to iPhone?

Apple iPhoneRumours are rife that Apple's looking to add Immersion's Haptic Technology to the iPhone's on-screen keyboard. Last week Immersion made ex-Apple exec, Clent Richardson, its President and CEO. Now Palluxo.com is reporting that senior execs from both companies have been meeting to discuss adding the technology to Apple's handsets.

Citing an unnamed Apple employee, Palluxo says, "senior executives of the two companies have already met once on Tuesday and the next meeting has been scheduled for Friday morning."

Apple could well be playing a game of catch up with Nokia, which has already licensed the tech for its range - including the upcoming iPhone challenger codenamed 'Tube'.

Either way the move makes sense for Apple. Not everyone is in love with iPhone's touchscreen QWERTY keys. Adding haptic vibrations to each keystroke to give a bit of feedback to the typist may well lure a few more people away from their Blackberries and Windows Mobiles.
