iPhone 3G T minus 1: iTunes 7.7 now available for download

iTunes 7.7

With just one day to go before the launch of the iPhone 3G (yes, we know most of you are probably sick of hearing about it by now), Apple has made iTunes 7.7 available for download...

This latest version of iTunes will provide access to applications for the yet-to-be-released version 2.0 of the iPod Touch/iPhone software (the firmware isn’t bundled with iTunes this time). There really isn’t anything new to see in iTunes 7.7 at this stage, though the About.rtf file says:

Use iTunes 7.7 to sync music, video, and more with iPhone 3G, and download applications from the iTunes Store exclusively designed for iPhone and iPod touch with software version 2.0 or later.

Also use the new Remote application for iPhone or iPod touch to control iTunes playback from anywhere in your home – a free download from the App Store.

Alas, applications aren’t yet visible in the iTunes Store, the only real reason to grab iTunes 7.7 now is to avoid the inevitable Apple server collapse tomorrow when thousands of new iPhone 3G owners rush to download it…
