Holy Nokia Tube, Batman!

by Julian Prokaza on Tuesday 22 July 2008 Comment

Nokia TubeLooks like the upcoming, yet-to-be-announced, already-leaked, touchscreen Nokia Tube is the new Batphone. Stills from Batman: The Dark Knight movie show one of the phones in the hands of Bruce Wayne's business partner, Lucius Fox, played by Morgan Freeman.

The Tube, or 5800 XpressMedia phone as it's more formally known, is Nokia's answer to the Apple iPhone, running a touchscreen version of Series 60. Despite appearing in Nokia seminars on the Series 60, it is still most definitely an unofficial product, which makes this the most high profile leak in handset history.

It's not yet clear whether the phone in the film is a dummy or the real thing, but if Nokia is to get any mileage out of this product placement, an official announcement can surely only be days away. Meanwhile, get down to your local multiplex for a view of the Tube in action - and to watch Batman, of course.
