Tosh makes it a dozen new Centrino 2 models

Not to be outdone by Sony and Lenovo, Toshiba has unveiled twelve updated new models, all fitted out with Intel's spangly new Centrino 2 processor.

The line-up includes eight new Satellites and Satellite Pros, plus a style-centric Portégé M800 and three hard-core Qosmio gaming rigs.

The new Qosmios each get 'Quad Core' billing. Before you get too excited, that's Toshiba's 'Quad Core' HD Processor SpursEngine SE1000 -  a dedicated chip for handling tasks such as HD video playback and editing - rather than any main CPU quadcore shenanigans.

London, UK, 24 July, 2008 – Toshiba Computer Systems Division today announced the UK launch of its new Qosmio range of high-end multimedia and gaming notebooks, with three new models arriving to market with immediate effect.

TOSHIBA QOSMIO F50 AND G50
Toshiba’s new F50 and G50 models are premium multimedia laptops encased in an impressive high-gloss and latch-less design. Created specifically for consumers who demand the highest-quality audio-visual performance, the new F50 and G50 models provide a truly advanced home entertainment experience, delivering the best HD performance ever seen in a laptop.
The Qosmio F50 and G50 models both launch with Toshiba’s new Quad Core HD Processor, a powerful new media processor based on cell architecture. The Quad Core HD processor is able to provide a number of premium multimedia features, such as real-time high definition video and DVD upscaling, high-performance video editing and transcoding, as well as unique hand gesture control. Using an integrated webcam, in-built Toshiba Gesture Control technology is able to recognise simple hand movements and rapidly translates them into commands for controlling AV features. The result of this unique technology is the ability to control numerous multimedia applications with such simple gestures as a ‘thumbs-up’, open palm or a wave of the hand – allowing you to start and stop videos or DVDs without the need for a remote control.

TOSHIBA QOSMIO X300
The Qosmio X300 is Toshiba’s first-ever Qosmio gaming machine. Succeeding the Satellite X200, the Qosmio X300 takes the design of gaming laptops to a new level, thanks to its impressive ‘Fire Shark’ exterior design theme. Red LED illumination highlights the multimedia bar, touchpad and tweeter speakers, with the bass speakers adorned in a special flame design.

The Portégé M800 successfully combines specifications and style without compromising in any area.
