Android phones and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 on the way from HTC

by Julian Prokaza on Monday 04 August 2008 2 Comments

AndroidGoogle's Android has been hit by delays since it was first announced last year but here's some good news at last from handset maker, HTC.

It's promising Android phones will be delivered to its re-badging ODM clients before the end of the year. A bit of lateral thinking puts T-Mobile as the prime candidate to launch the first Android phone to the public, based on its current HTC-built MDA range and a similar statement from T-Mobile suggesting Android handsets by year-end.

Meanwhile, Digitimes, which sourced the comments from HTC, also has news on the Xperia X1 handsets HTC's building for Sony Ericsson . 'Here in the third quarter', it says, which could be any time from now until the end of September. Roll on Autumn.

In your article you mention that Android has been hit by delays since it was first announced, but this is simply not true. T-Mobile announced long ago that they would be releasing a handset in the 4th quarter of this year. We aren't in the 4th quarter yet, and T-Mobile hasn't backed away from their release time frame. What delays are you referring to?

He was referring to Android delays, he never mentioned T-Mobile delays.
