Android here in four weeks?

AndroidMost news about Google's Android OS -aside from shaky video 'leaks' - has been all about delays, with only recent hope that Android handsets could be here by the end of the 2008. But now reports from the unofficial T-Mobile US blog, TmoNews, suggest the first Android phones could be up for 'pre-sale' as soon as 17th September.

A 'trusted source' has told the site that T-Mobile's HTC manufactured handset, which it calls the 'G1', will be offered to existing US customers for one week for $249 below the expected $399 retail price.

It adds that non T-Mobile customers will have to wait until October to snare the 3G phone, said to feature a 5 x 3in touchscreen, iPhone-beating 3mp camera and a slide-out QWERTY keypad.
