RIM BlackBerry Bold & HP iPaq 910c Business Messenger: separated at birth?

HP iPaq 910c & BlackBerry Bold

We’ve been testing RIM’s new BlackBerry Bold smartphone over the last couple days as we ready a review for Mobile Computer, and we’ve noticed something interesting. RIM has made much of the sleek industrial design of the Bold and its liberal use of stainless steel both around the case and between the rows of keys on the keyboard.

Curiously, HP’s newly redesigned iPaq 910c Business Messenger sports the very same design touches and bears more than a passing resemblance to the Bold. We wonder, could they by any chance be related?
