Nokia Tube 'out this year'

Nokia TubeThe BlackBerry Bold's arrived, the iPhone 3G is old news and the first Android phones are all but here. That just leaves a question mark over Nokia's 'iPhone killer', the touchscreen Tube.

After already showing up in pictures released by Nokia earlier this year - and also making an apparent cameo appearance in the latest Batman film - Nokia's marketing director in India, Devinder Kishore has now said that the phone could be out before Christmas.

"We have been working on the Series 60 platform for touchscreen user interface," he said, "and a mobile device is expected to be launched by the year-end."

Although Kishore didn't mention the Tube, aka the Xpress 5800, by name, you can be assured that's what he was referring to. Should make for an interesting December.
