HTC Android G1 design schematic leaked

A pencilled schematic showing HTC’s forthcoming Android G1 handset from all sides has appeared over at AndroidGuys.

The image is apparently from a reliable source, looks real and certainly tallies with the video evidence seen earlier this month. Though we’ll leave the honour of the full low-down to AndroidGuys, a glance at this schematic shows at least one unexpected design feature. More after the cut.

If this drawing is real, then the mouthpiece area of the G1 is tilted very slightly so that it juts out from the handset’s body. It’s a curious design choice and, on paper at least, not one that we like particularly like the look of. If nothing else, it will cause a greater bulge in trouser pockets.

So, is this design real? We think so. If you watch closely the video we linked to a couple of weeks back, you can see that the featured handset appears to match this schematic exactly – right down to the tilted mouthpiece/trackball zone.

Anyway, enough about this from us, because we don’t know any more. For more information – oh, and plenty of fascinating speculation and calculated dimensions too – head on over to AndroidGuys. Link below.
