More pics of T-Mobile's HTC Android Dream G1

T-Mobile Dream G1We've seen blurry video. We've seen a line-drawn design schematic. Now we've finally got decent, in the wild shots of the first Android handset - the Dream G1 - due for launch on T-Mobile in the US.

The snaps show that it corresponds pretty closely to what we've already seen - although seeing it in the flesh has provoked something of a mixed reaction from those eagerly awaiting its arrival.

While the touchscreen, trackball and full QWERTY keypad tick all the right boxes, the main initial reaction can be summed up with one word: 'ugly'.

We'll withhold judgement till we've got one in our clutches but we will say that HTC's black, non T-Mobile, version does seem a whole lot easier on the eyes. Here are the full specs, courtesy of androidguy.com.

    Can't help but be a bit disappointed that this handset is going to mark the start of the Android platform.I know it was always going to be nigh-on impossible to beat the iPhone on style, but i guess i just expected something a little better.Oh well, hopefully the Android platform will more than make up for any handset issues.http://www.talkandroid.com/android-forums/htc-smart-mobility/122-htc-dream-what-do-you-really-think.html

    Thank you for not being another key-less blunder-kin! And thank you for not being tied to AT&T (worst mobile provider on the planet). So tired of the iProne crowd.

    When you say "HTC's black, non T-Mobile, version", do you mean the one in the pictures above? Because that's a [i]T-Mobile[/i] MDA Vario IV.To be honest, the Dream disappoints me.. It was gonna be the Dream or the MDA Vario IV for me.I think I'll be going with the Vario unless they have another Dream model they're gonna be releasing.
