Commodore launches a laptop - not 64k

Commodoe 8010/FRetro gamers will have been following the rebirth of Commodore as a PC-gaming slash Wi-Fi multimedia player brand with interest but now the never-say-die name is branching out once more with its own UMPC (heck, why not?) called the UMMD 8010/F Netbook. Insert tape and type LOAD for more.

Sadly the Netbook doesn't come in beige and brown but instead opts for a more clinical white case. The only stand-out feature of note is that it eschews the usual Intel Atom processor for VIA's 1.6GHz C7-M, which didn't exactly impress us when it cropped up in HP's Mini-Note 2133.

Like previous Commodore hardware it also gets a Commodore 64 emulator and a bunch of games so you can relive those hours spent waiting for the tape to load and revel in the wonder of how realistic the 8-bit graphics are.

Other than that it's the usual 10in, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard drive, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi combo. Now for the price: a hefty $600 - exactly what it would have cost you to buy a Commodore 64 when it launched in August 1982. Crazy eigh?

"Retro gamers will have been following the rebirth of Commodore as a PC-gaming slash Wi-Fi multimedia player brand with interest".. with disgust would be a more correct description.
